News Day

This trailer looks weird but um

Must see:

News of the Weird:

A young copperhead snake trespassed into a building near Poolesville, Md., in June and delivered several venomous nips to the hand of Sam Pettengill. Often snakes do not survive such encounters because the victim's first impulse is to kill the attacker. Fortunately for this snake, it had wandered into a Buddhist temple, and Pettengill had an obligation, according to a Washington Post report. Before he set out for the hospital for treatment (which turned out to be four antivenin cycles), Pettengill took the snake in his throbbing, increasingly pain-wracked hand, circled a prayer room three times to bless it, and released it back into the woods. [Washington Post, 6-3-09]

Todd Hall, 36, was sentenced to a year in prison after his conviction in Bentonville, Ark., in June for habitually biting the toes of his son, which Hall said he did up to age 6 as routine discipline. (He had earlier been on probation for the disciplinary biting of his 10-month-old daughter.) [Northwest Arkansas News, 6-17-09]

In June in Muncie, Ind., in his second such conviction in seven months, Robert Stahl, 64, was found guilty of resolving disputes with men in their 50s by reaching into their mouths and yanking out their dentures. [Star Press (Muncie), 6-15-09]

The East Anglian Daily Times reported in July that its Freedom of Information Act request for the names of recent escapees from the Hollesley Bay prison had only been partially fulfilled by the government. A list of the crimes represented by the 39 escapees was handed over, but not their names, because prison officials said that would violate the escapees' right of privacy. OLD-A Day at Home

Good Afternoon!

Been up all morning organizing my hard drives, boy are they running amok. I'd really like a new computer, maybe one where the screen doesn't freak out. I've had this one for four years now, time to upgrade....well once I get my job. Any minute now right?! Oh I'm still waiting on that.

No work today, just hanging at home. Possibly going to Disneyland later tonight with Sadie. Can't forget my glow sticks this time! If not, I'm hanging at home, renting some movies.

Haven't worked since the 31st thanks to my wonderful boss who doesn't schedule me damn it. Oh well, hopefully I'll call in today and say hey, I quit asshole. Let's hope that happens in the next 5 hours. In other news I got my desk all situated with all my pens and such. I've been doing a lot of organizing lately, trying to get my life in order. Love it!

the waiting game

Had my interview at 9 am this morning, now I'm playing the waiting game. Damn this sucks. Everyone prepare to either have a FML pity party with me or a celebration party....

When is it too early to call to check up? I was going to call Friday morning...

Just a quick update:

Feeling more than nauseated for my interview in 2 1/2 hours....ahhhhhhh. Someone give me calming tips...and help on how to shine.

I did this: Maybe it'll help?

HIRE ME.

EXPERIENCE: With the combination of my on set experience and extensive stay at my internship, mostly here at Varsity, I feel I am qualified for the job because of my versatility.

ON SET: Having been on numerous sets, even student produced, I have learned a great deal about set lingo, proper etiquette, and the guerrilla way of filmmaking. I have been on professional sets as well and have enjoyed seeing the differences of how they are run. Sunny actually builds on that knowledge as I was able to come on set earlier this year and observe my fellow students as on set PAs.

ASSISTANT: As an intern at Varsity for nearly 6 months I had the opportunity to delve into everything Varsity. This included script coverage of projects we were in production with and also some that were sent as samples of writers who wanted to work with us. I feel like I have a great deal of head start on the projects Varsity is spearheading including Sunny, picked up for another 13 episodes and possibly 30, BMS that has exploded since I last left here, getting picked up for a second season, Don’t Shake It, which is slated to start shooting with Fatima in Georgia early next year. Also, Shared Fare, Art of Making $, and Traded are all trying to get directors attached and going quite well I hear. I read treatments and drafts of BMS, I saw the differences in where the story was going and the changes that were being creatively made to further the series into now its second season. When Tony left I took over his desk, answering and transferring calls. Doing minor schedule management, confirming and making appointments, running to the major agents and agencies for a reel or script.

I work very well with everyone in the office and I hear that is being reciprocated. I enjoy seeing Carter and Cheythana do what they do as assistants and I learned everything they did when I was interning. I have a bit of a head start on that because if they made a mistake I was right there learning with them.

AHHHH I'm gonna need a drink when this is all done...haha

Oh what a long one...

Back to blog, hooray! It's been a crazy weekend full of fun, stress, and excitement!

PRODUCTION SLATE:
Melissa- Dir: Sphear Collins
Catch the latest news and information at the website Brittany has created for the film:

Had the first 2 days of principal photography on Sat/Sun in Agoura Hills, CA. Call times were 8 and 9 AM so we got to sleep in a bit but the trek to Agoura from Culver is kinda long. After we wrapped each day I just want to continue on the 101 and go home...:)

Back to the set, it was great, the two little girls brought a lot of punch to the story and really conveyed the sadness and betrayal. One thing happened on set that I'm not proud of nor want to entertain as the correct way of dealing with 7 year old girls. We had this one scene where Breanne, comes to give a going away necklace to her friend Melissa, who's dying of cancer and moving to Texas. Melissa doesn't accept the necklace and slams the door in Breanne's face. Breanne then kicks the porch and begins to get angry at herself for even coming over, thinking she's stupid to have come. She has a full blown meltdown that her friend is leaving and dying. Okay, so normally to get to that point of extreme meltdown the actress needs some time to really prepare, to work up the emotion and embarrassment and such. Apparently some people thought it would be a good idea to yell verbal insults at the girl and call her fat and stupid to get her to cry. She knew full well what was going on but still, to scream at your child, sister, actress to get her to that point is inhumame and down right disgusting. I don't condone the behavior to get her to the point and if you're thinking of using a well known child actress turned adult actress to get your point across don't use the one who was in the media so much for Post pardum depression and anxiety...yea, she probably isn't so healthy now because of her mother calling her a "fucking cunt" on the set of Blue Lagoon. No matter what you say about how amazing she was and how now all she has to do is thank the academy it DOESN'T make what you did to her OK.

Other than that, we made our shots and I'm happy with how everything looks. We need to do some more shooting this weekend but it should be short and sweet.

Go!- Dir: Sadie Dean and Ryan Zeidan
Currently in post production with a cut that was sent to be mastered for sound. It is around 28 min running time however and that's just too long to send to short fests. So, we need a second cut that is about 1/2 that time and we can begin to really send it out. Directors are working on it now. Need to take a second pass at color timing with Ryan.

The Reunion- Dir: Marissa Gallardo
Currently in post production. I have seen a few dailies and learned a lot about how to handle being outside with a limited number of polarizers and ND filers. Need to see a rough or possibly a final and get that short cut into my reel. Need to make a pass at color timing it once we have a rough cut.

Every Night Ruby- Dir: Matthew Rokasy
Currently in post production. Don't know much about how the rough is going, haven't seen any dailies. Need to see that rough and make a pass with color timing.

The Holiday- Dir: Justin Zagri
Currently in post production. Rough cut ready to view and start pass at color timing.

INTERN NEWS:
Not much intern news as I have not been in since Thursday and last week was mostly used up with the LA Shorts Film Fest. One thing I have to say about the volunteers and even the guy working at the Sunset 5, they were jerks. They didn't want to help me or offer me any advice in my position. Seriously, I almost yelled at them for their blatant apathy at helping someone from Fox nonetheless. D-bags.
Back to work tomorrow I think, or maybe Wednesday as I think I'm going to SB to have lunch with some of Noah's family. Hopefully get a call back to go in for my interview with Bryan Robbins at Varsity Pictures for the assistant position today!!! I really want that job, seriously, really really...cross your fingers for me. Interview is tomorrow at 4PM....oh man, here I go.

NEWS TODAY:
None worthy really...gonna zonk for a little while longer before work.

TWILIGHT TIDBITS:
Turning the final book, Breaking Dawn, into 3 different movies? WHAT?! That's just too much but there's no way they'll fit all of book 4 in an hour and 30 mins....conundrum.

PERSONAL:
So, I'm starting a budget, that's right. I'm keeping track of all my expenses and moving my credit card balance to a new credit card with no interest and paying it off by December. Which means, I have to pay 500 a month til then. Damn. Yes indeedy it's happening! I really need to start being responsible for my spending.
