It's About Time

4. Send a card/letter snail-mail style once a month (2 Feb/32)
This card wasn't such a happy thing to send off with the post lady the other day but I wanted to be there for my friend Taryn and needed to reach out in as many ways as I could.  Her father was diagnosed with Kidney Failure on Monday and she is pretty torn up about it.  He hasn't done dialysis but his son is being tested to see if he could be a donor but first they have to see if he has the same disease.  It's such a gross thing to happen to such a wonderful family.  My thoughts are with them and I hope everything turns out okay.

6. Take a New Trail (1/32)
I took a new trail about 3 weeks ago, it was awesome!  Well it was an adventure because I tried to explore a place that Linnea had pointed out to me and that I had wondered about myself.  I live in Culver City, right across the street from Stage 16 at Culver Studios and there's this house that is-a-glow every night and sometimes I see little moving ants up there (people).  So I wanted to find out how the heck they got up there.  Well I thought it was off Duquesne and Jefferson, where the park is.  Well I went up that and then parked down at a mid spot and "hiked" up to the lookout where you could park about 20 cars.  Its a good view but NOT the one I was thinking of.  So, I drove East a few blocks and saw a sign for Baldwin Hills Scenic something.  AHA.  You can drive up this windy street to the museum (which I thought was that house) OR you can hike a little then go up 285 steps to the top.
I'm exercising so I took the stairs, woohoo, it was awesome!  The view was great and the climb is great for the legs and buns.  They have picnic tables and a big concrete circular structure with rails to look all the way out to Santa Monica and beyond.  You can choose to go back down the stairs OR go on a few trails that wind you down nice and slow.
The next time I went I was going to go up and down a few times but its started pouring :/
The 3rd time I went it was great except that day turned into having breakfast at 5PM because after my hike my car key wouldn't go into the ignition, siting a AAA visit and tow to Leaf Auto in Venice (AGAIN) and 400 bucks, a bus ride and a 5 block sprint in the rain home I finally got my stuff done. Ugh.  Lately I've been jogging over there, going up the stairs and jogging back home.  Takes about an hour.

32. Go to 15 shows/concerts (1/15)
My newest music obsession comes in the form of these gorgeous lads, The Daylights.  I met these guys after Katy Perry's show in August last year at the Santa Barbara Bowl.  They were opening and blew my musical ears away.  SO, when I saw they had a show at the Viper Room on the 30th and the El Rey on Feb 19th I was stoked on covering it.  Through some emails I got to sit down with them and talk about their journey for over an hour=awesome.  The next night I caught them at the viper room, pics to come.  I'm planning on shooting their Feb 19th show as well this next week.  Couldn't have met a nicer group of guys.  Check them out at www.myspace.com/thedaylights

94. Get finished copies of my films: Go, Every Night Ruby, Holiday, The Reunion and Melissa (2/5)
I received Every Night Ruby last night.  There are so many things I would change.  I think a lot about what it is to be an artist you are constantly learning and exploring.  One thing I've certainly learned is to take charge of what I want more and create the look I want.  Its so easy to try to just please the director, but in the end, you're hurting the whole film if you don't stand up for what you want.

99. Write a letter to myself to be opened in 10 years
I just did this...umm it went well.  Is it suppose to be awe inspiring and amazing? It wasn't so awesome but I stated what I wanted or what I think I wanted...ugh.  It wasn't that fun.  Ha.
